Spirit Popcorn Fundraising

Making a difference one organization at a time.

Fundraising Tips

How To Ensure Your Spirit Popcorn Fundraising Success
1. Hold a meeting with all participants in the fundraiser. Select a fundraising coordinator to "captain" the campaign to keep all records and meetings on schedule.

2. Clearly explain the goals of your fundraising and expectations of each participant.

3. Emphasize to the participants the amount of money you will raise if each participant reaches the team goal. Use the following analysis:
100 participants sell 10 tubs=1,000 sold = $5,000 profit
250 participants sell 10 tubs=2,500 sold = $12,500 profit
500 participants sell 10 tubs=5,000 sold = $25,000 profit

4. Remind participants that 80% of all sales come through friends, coworkers and family. We’ve found PTO Today, www.ptotoday.com, is a very helpful resource for parent groups seeking ideas, information and tools for increasing parent involvement and participation in fundraising.

5. Work environments are the perfect place to bring a fundraising brochure. Encourage those who buy to tell a friend.

6. Limit the length of the fundraising effort to 3 weeks or less. This allows your efforts to be focused and maintain enthusiasm.

7. At the halfway point of the fundraiser request a midpoint meeting to see how progress is being made. We suggest each person is called on to disclose how many orders they have sold.

8. You may want to offer a drawing for participants meeting a fundraising quota. A $25 gift certificate works; other benchmark drawings can be offered with larger quotas.

When selling Spirit Popcorn be sure to follow these 5 EASY steps:
1. GREET & ENGAGE: Introduce yourself and engage them with your story.
“Hi, my name is Olivia and I am raising money for my School PTA group.“

2. DISCOVER YOUR CUSTOMER: Find out which NFL team is your customer's favorite.
“Spirit Popcorn comes in your favorite NFL team tub, which team is your favorite?“

3. ADD ON: Now that you have found out which NFL team they like, ask them to if they know anyone else who would like a NFL tub.
“That's great that you have ordered the Cowboys, they are my favorite team too! Do you know any other person who would enjoy a NFL tub? They make great gifts!“

4. CLOSE: Now that you know your customer's favorite NFL team, it's time to get their information.
“How many Spirit Popcorn Cowboys do you need Mr. Williams? Great! May I please have your phone number also?“

5. THANK & INVITE YOURSELF BACK: Thank your customer for their order and give them an approximate time that you will return (remember, the Popcorn will be shipped to your association within 4-6 weeks from when Spirit Popcorn receives the final order).
“I really appreciate you helping my School PTA group! Your Popcorn order should be here in 4-6 weeks, and I will give you a call to arrange a time for me to deliver the tubs and popcorn to you personally!“

Organization Tips:
  • Identify your organizational needs and fundraising goals
  • Motivate your organization and members
  • Relay the organizational goals to the participants
  • Begin planning the logistics of distributing the products to the participants, and eventually, to the supporters

Helpful Hints
  • Set a daily goal based on how much time is available.
  • Practice your sales presentation.
  • Show the customers the Order Form so they can see all 32 NFL teams.
  • Be helpful if the customer is indecisive, and then be prepared to make a suggestion.

Keep a copy of your customer's name and purchases for next year's fundraising drive.
